Choosing a double sided ID card holder for a card printed on both faces

A card with a photo on the front and an access number or emergency contact on the back is only useful if both faces can be read without taking it out. That is the whole argument for a dual-sided holder. The BIOBADGE open faced holders here have a window on each face, so the card sits in a rigid frame and can be flipped on the lanyard or reel and read either way.

In Ireland these are bought by hospitals, universities and larger workplaces where the back of the card does real work: a canteen barcode, a printed access list, a colour band for a department. The decision is orientation first, colour second. Landscape suits the usual staff photo ID; portrait suits student and visitor passes.
