Visitor Lanyards

Pre-printed visitor lanyards — essential for safeguarding and security in schools, hospitals, and offices. A clearly marked "VISITOR" lanyard identifies anyone who isn't a permanent member of staff, which matters for child protection compliance and workplace security.

Choosing visitor lanyards for a school, hospital or office

A visitor lanyard does one job and it needs to do it from across a corridor: mark the wearer as someone who is not staff. Schools in Ireland issue them under child protection procedures, hospitals use them so a ward sister can tell a contractor from a consultant at a glance, and offices hand them out at reception. The word VISITOR runs along the lanyard itself, so the message survives even when the badge has flipped round to show its blank back, which badges do with great reliability.

The pre-printed visitor lanyards here are 15mm wide and come in packs of 100, in recycled green, recycled red, recycled blue and a royal blue flat woven version. Several have a safety breakaway, and the clip is either a plastic J clip or a metal lobster clip. Packs start from €60 ex VAT.

Breakaway, clip type and colour: what to look for

  • Safety breakaway: the lanyard parts under a sharp pull, which matters near machinery, patients or small children. The red lobster clip, blue J clip and royal blue woven options are all listed with one.
  • Plastic J clip versus metal lobster clip: the J clip is lighter and quieter; the lobster clip is sturdier and swivels, which stops the badge twisting.
  • Colour coding: a green visitor lanyard beside a red one for contractors lets a receptionist read status at a distance.

Building a visitor pack: lanyards, holders and cards

The lanyard is only half the visitor pack. Pair it with ID card holders that take a printed or handwritten visitor card, and keep a separate stock of staff lanyards and student lanyards so each group is visibly distinct. The full pre-printed lanyards collection covers other wordings, and the plain lanyards suit sites that colour-code rather than label. If you want your organisation's name on the lanyard, our sister company PopiD does that.

Frequently asked questions

Which visitor lanyard should a school choose?

One with a safety breakaway, in a colour not used for staff. Green visitor lanyards are easy to spot in a corridor full of navy uniforms.

Are these safety lanyards?

The versions listed with a breakaway are. The breakaway separates under load so the lanyard cannot snag and tighten. Ask us about the green and red J clip versions if a breakaway is essential.

Can I get visitor lanyards in Dublin quickly?
