Choosing plain lanyards for staff, visitors and events
A plain lanyard is the kind of thing nobody notices until it breaks, snags or turns up in the wrong colour. Irish schools, hospitals, warehouses, conference organisers and sports clubs buy them by the hundred because they solve a practical problem cheaply: every ID card needs to hang somewhere, and colour is the fastest way to tell a contractor from a visitor from a member of staff at ten paces.
The decision that matters most is safety. A breakaway lanyard has a clasp at the back of the neck that pops open under a sharp pull, which is why hospitals, schools and anyone near machinery specify them. The tubular breakaway lanyards here come in black, red and white at 10mm, and the 20mm recycled lanyards add a flat breakaway with a metal trigger clip.
What to look for in blank lanyards
- Width. 10mm is the everyday office lanyard; 15mm and 20mm sit more comfortably for all-day wear.
- Material. Most of the range is recycled polyester, with white bamboo lanyards for organisations that want a natural fibre.
- Clip. A plastic J clip is the lightest and cheapest; a metal lobster or trigger clip lasts longer. Double clip lanyards hold a card at both ends so it hangs level.
Packs of 100 start from €40 ex VAT, with fast dispatch from Dublin.
Holders, reels and printed alternatives
A lanyard on its own holds nothing, so pair it with a holder from ID card holders and clips. If staff swipe a reader without taking the card off, the lanyards with reels add a retractable yoyo. Browse by fitting under plastic clip or metal clip lanyards. Where plain is not enough, pre-printed lanyards carry Staff, Visitor or Student in stock designs, and for your own logo the sister company PopiD handles custom printing.
Frequently asked questions
Where can I buy cheap lanyards in Ireland in bulk?
Right here. Plain recycled lanyards are listed in packs of 100 from €40 ex VAT and ship from Dublin, so a school or event organiser can have them in hand within the week.
What is the difference between plain and unprinted lanyards?
Nothing. Plain, blank and unprinted all describe a lanyard in a single colour with no text or logo, ready to use from the pack.
Can I mix colours in one order?
Yes. Each colour is its own pack of 100, so order red for visitors, navy for staff and yellow for contractors and colour-code the building.
