Choosing plain lanyards with a plastic J clip

A plastic J clip does one thing a metal clip cannot: it keeps metal away from the card, the reader and the wearer. Nothing scratches the card face, nothing catches on a jumper, and the lanyard weighs less around the neck by the end of a shift. That is why hospitals, schools and events across Ireland specify plastic clips when they do not need the heft of a metal trigger clip.

Every lanyard here is made from recycled material and comes in packs of 100. The 10mm plain lanyards run through red, yellow, black, dark blue, navy, light blue, dark green, light green, pink and orange. The 15mm range adds printed wording for the roles a busy site needs to spot at a glance: Visitor, Staff, Student, Contractor, Volunteer, Employee, Event Staff, First Aid and VIP, some with a breakaway. Prices start from €40 ex VAT per 100.

10mm or 15mm, plain or worded

  • 10mm plain lanyards are the everyday staff option, light and cheap enough to hand out and forget.
  • 15mm lanyards carry printed wording legibly, so a visitor or contractor is identifiable from across a room.
  • A breakaway, fitted to the blue Visitor and purple Student lanyards, releases if the lanyard is pulled, which matters around machinery and in schools.
  • Colour-coding by role costs nothing extra: green for volunteers, red for staff, black for VIP.

Pairing lanyards with holders and cards

A J clip hooks through the slot in a card holder or a slot-punched card, so pair these with the ID card holders range. If you need a stronger clip for a heavy holder, the metal clip lanyards are the alternative, and lanyards with reels suit staff who swipe at doors all day. The worded lanyards are listed in full under pre-printed lanyards, with visitor lanyards the most requested. For lanyards printed with your own logo or wording, PopiD handles that.

Frequently asked questions

Are recycled plastic lanyards as strong as standard ones?

For a card holder and ID card, yes. Neither the recycled webbing nor the moulded J clip is the weak point in daily use.

Can I get lanyards in Dublin quickly?

Do lanyards with plastic clips fit every card holder?

Any holder with a slot takes a J clip, which covers the open-faced, enclosed and vinyl holders we sell.
