Choosing an Entrust card printer for your organisation
Entrust Datacard printers have a reputation for running unattended in busy issuing offices, which is why you find them behind the desk at colleges, credit unions and public bodies across Ireland. The Sigma range covers the whole spread: the DS1 for a single-sided badge programme, the DS2 in single and duplex form for most Dublin offices, and the DS3 and DSE for higher volumes and specialised encoding, priced on request.
The decision that matters is duplex. A single-sided Sigma prints the face; a duplex model turns the card and prints the reverse, which is where terms of use, a barcode or a return address usually go. Buying simplex and hand-feeding the back is the false economy people regret first.

Ribbons, cards and keeping a Sigma running
Entrust colour ribbons carry a topcoat panel that seals the print, and each Sigma model has its own ribbon page: Sigma DS1 ribbons, Sigma DS2 ribbons and Sigma DS3 ribbons, all gathered under Entrust Datacard ribbons. Pair the printer with blank white cards, or take an ID card printer bundle with the first consumables included.

What is the difference between the Entrust Sigma DS2 and DS3?
Both are direct-to-card printers in the same family. The DS3 sits above the DS2 for organisations with higher card volumes and more encoding options, and is priced on request because those options vary.
Is Datacard the same company as Entrust?
Yes. Datacard became Entrust, so Entrust Datacard and Entrust refer to the same printers. Older SD and SP series ribbons are still listed under the Datacard name.
