Choosing the right Magicard printer ribbon for your model

Magicard ribbons are coded rather than named, and the code does most of the work. Take MB250YMCKOK. The two-letter prefix identifies the printer family, the number is the print yield, and the letters after it list the panels: yellow, magenta, cyan, black, an overlay, and here a second black for the reverse of the card. Read the code on the ribbon in your printer and you have the reorder.

The four ribbons here cover most of the Magicard fleet in Irish offices, schools and hospitals. The MC200YMCKO is a 200-print full colour ribbon. The MB250YMCKOK gives 250 dual-sided prints, colour front and black back. The MA450YMCKO is a half panel ribbon, printing colour on part of the card and stretching to 450 prints where the design is mostly pre-printed. The M9005-751 is the 350-print YMCKO that owners of the older Rio 2e, Tango 2e and Alto will recognise.

Which Magicard ribbon does what

  • YMCKO: full colour front with overlay. The standard ribbon for a single-sided card.
  • YMCKOK: full colour front plus a black panel for the reverse, for dual-sided printers.
  • Half panel YMCKO: colour on a portion of the card, more prints per ribbon, for cards with a pre-printed background. The prefix must match your printer family or the ribbon will not load. Pricing is on request by phone.

How do I know which Magicard ribbon fits my printer?

Read the code on the ribbon already in the machine. The prefix identifies the family and the suffix the panels. If the ribbon is lost, ring us with the printer model and we will match it.

What does YMCKO mean on a Magicard ribbon?

Yellow, magenta, cyan, black and overlay. Each print uses one set of panels, so a 250-print ribbon contains 250 sets. YMCKOK adds a second black panel for the back.
