Choosing an Evolis Easy4Pro ribbon

Easy4Pro ribbons are Evolis's answer to the organisation that prints different kinds of card on the same printer: full-colour staff photo ID on Monday, black-only visitor passes on Tuesday, a batch of dual-sided membership cards at the end of the month. Rather than one ribbon that does everything expensively, the range splits by panel layout. Irish colleges and hospitals, where the card office prints for several departments, tend to keep two of these in the drawer.

Five ribbons are stocked. The N5F208E100 YMCKO gives 300 full-colour prints. The N6F203E100 YMCKO-K gives 200 prints with an extra black panel for the reverse side. The N5H204E100 YMCKO half-panel stretches to 400 prints by printing colour on only half the card. The N7H206NAAA YMCKO-KO half-panel adds a black-and-overlay pair for the back, at 250 prints. The N2F210NAAA KO is black with overlay, 600 prints, for text-only cards. Pricing on all five is on request by phone.

Half-panel is the one worth understanding: colour covers roughly half the card, so a design with photo and logo at one end and black text at the other costs less per card.

Cards, cleaning and the rest of the Evolis range

All five print onto standard blank white cards. K is a black panel and O is a clear overlay. A KO ribbon prints black text and then seals it, so a monochrome card lasts as long as a colour one.

When should I choose a half-panel ribbon?

When the colour on your card sits in one area, typically a photo and logo at one end. The N5H204E100 gives 400 prints against 300 for the full-panel YMCKO.
