The Entrust Sigma DS2 is the mid-range printer in the Sigma family, found in Irish credit unions, colleges and council offices that print a steady stream of staff and member cards. Its ribbons follow the Entrust pattern: full-colour ribbons with a topcoat panel that seals the print, and monochrome black ribbons for cards that carry only text and a barcode.

The decision is single or dual-sided. A DS2 Simplex prints the face of the card and uses the standard colour ribbon. A DS2 Duplex turns the card and prints the reverse, and a ribbon with a second black panel prints that reverse without spending a full colour set on it.

What to check before ordering

  • Read the part number off the cartridge in the printer. Entrust ribbons for the DS1, DS2 and DS3 are listed separately and are not always the same part.
  • Match the ribbon to the sides you print: a dual-sided ribbon is wasted on a Simplex.
  • Compare rated print counts, because the cost per card is what matters, not the cost per ribbon.
