Choosing ribbons for the Fargo DTC400

The Fargo DTC400 is an older printer, and the organisations still running one in Ireland are the ones that bought well and looked after it. The machine still prints a clean card and asks only for a ribbon that matches.

Ribbons for the DTC400 follow the standard Fargo pattern: a full-colour YMCKO ribbon for photo ID and membership cards, and a black monochrome ribbon for text, barcodes and visitor passes. Pricing is on request by phone, and we confirm the part number against the code on your existing cartridge before anything is dispatched.

What to check before ordering a DTC400 ribbon

  • The cartridge code. Fargo ribbons are matched to the printer generation, so check the code before assuming a ribbon for a later model fits.
  • Colour or mono. If most cards are black text on white, a monochrome ribbon gives more prints per cartridge at a lower cost per card.

Cards, cleaning and the newer Fargo ribbons

The DTC400 prints on standard 760 micron cards from the blank white cards range, and the printer cleaning kits keep the rollers clear.
