Choosing a Fargo DTC1250e ID card printer

The DTC1250e is the Fargo printer for Irish organisations that print steadily but not in the thousands: a school office, a hotel issuing staff and contractor passes, a sports club in Dublin renewing membership cards each season. It is a direct-to-card printer, which means the ribbon prints straight onto the PVC, the simplest and most economical way to produce a photo ID.

The choice within the range comes down to two questions. Single-sided or dual-sided: the dual-sided models flip the card and print the reverse in the same pass, useful when the back carries a barcode, return address or emergency numbers. Standard or Ethernet: the Ethernet versions, part numbers 050020 for single-sided and 050120 for dual-sided, sit on the network so several staff can print to one machine. Prices start from €1,035 ex VAT for the single-sided standard model.

Is the Fargo DTC1250e single-sided printer enough for a small business?

For most, yes. If the back of the card is blank or pre-printed, single-sided is all you need, and it is the lower-cost option.

Can I upgrade a single-sided DTC1250e to dual-sided later?

Call us before assuming so. It is safer to choose dual-sided at the outset if there is any chance the reverse will carry printed information.

Does the DTC1250e work over a network?

The Ethernet models (050020 and 050120) do. The standard models connect to a single computer.
