Choosing the right Magicard Rio Pro ribbon
The Magicard Rio Pro is the printer that Irish councils, hospitals and universities bought when they wanted something more robust than a desktop badge printer without stepping up to retransfer, and it is still in daily service in many card offices. Its ribbons are the MA series, and the choice is broader than most: three lengths of colour ribbon, one with an extra black panel for dual-sided work, a long black monochrome, a black-with-overlay and a white ribbon for dark cards. Six Magicard Rio Pro ribbons are listed, from €36 ex VAT for the MA1000K black.
MA100, MA300, MA250YMCKOK or monochrome: what to look for

The MA250YMCKOK is the one most Rio Pro owners overlook. On a dual-sided printer it puts colour on the front and black on the back from a single cartridge, which removes the ribbon swap on a batch run.
Fitting a Rio ribbon and what to keep beside the printer
Magicard ribbons load as a cartridge, so changing between colour and black takes a moment. The full brand range is under Magicard ribbons, the later Rio Pro 360 ribbons have their own page, and the printers are on Magicard card printers. Print onto 760 micron blank white cards and use a printer cleaning kit at each ribbon change; the printer will prompt you.

Which Rio ribbon should I buy for colour ID cards?
MA300YMCKO for regular use, MA100YMCKO if you print colour only occasionally, and MA250YMCKOK if the printer is dual-sided and the back of the card carries black text.
Does the Magicard Rio 2e use the same ribbons?
The MA series covers several Magicard models, but not every ribbon fits every printer. Check the code on your current cartridge or ring us with the printer model.
What is the difference between MA1000K and MA600KO?
Both are black. The MA600KO adds a clear overlay panel after the black, protecting the print on cards handled daily; the MA1000K is plain resin and gives more prints per cartridge.
