Choosing ribbons for a Zebra P110i card printer
The Zebra P110i is a compact single-sided card printer from an earlier Zebra generation, and a fair number are still at work in Irish offices, leisure centres and schools, printing a few staff or membership cards a week without complaint.
The decision is colour or monochrome. A YMCKO colour ribbon prints full photo ID with a clear overlay that protects the finished card. A K monochrome ribbon prints black text and barcodes only, at far more cards per roll and a much lower price, which suits visitor passes and locker cards. Because the P110i prints one side, there is no call for the double-black ribbons that dual-sided Zebra printers use.
What to look for when replacing a P110i ribbon
- Read the code. Zebra ribbons are keyed to the printer family, and the code on the cartridge you remove is the surest guide.
- Clean at every change. Older printers gather dust in the card path, and a cleaning pass prevents faint lines that get blamed on the ribbon.
