Choosing a ribbon for the Datacard SD260

The Datacard SD260 is a single-sided direct-to-card printer that a great many Irish organisations bought before Datacard became Entrust, and it is still printing. Its colour ribbon is a YMCKT: yellow, magenta, cyan and black panels, then a T panel that lays a clear topcoat over the finished card rather than the O overlay other brands use. Same job, different letter.

Three genuine Datacard YMCKT ribbons are listed. The 534700-004-R010 is the current 500-print ribbon for the SD range and replaces the old 534000-003 part number, so if your empty cartridge says 534000-003, this is its successor. The 534000-002 is the 250-print version for a lower-volume office, and the 534000-003 kit is the ribbon for the older SP printer range.

Cards, cleaning and related Datacard ribbons

The SD260 prints on 760 micron blank white cards. Keep a cleaning kit beside the printer, since an SD260 of this age is usually let down by a dirty roller rather than a worn head.
