Choosing ribbons for the Datacard SD460
The SD460 is the Datacard that Irish organisations buy when the card has to last: a hospital access badge, a county council ID, a university card that is swiped several times a day for four years. The consumables that keep it running are on this page: the Datacard YMCKT colour ribbon for the SD range, part 534700-004-R010, rated for 500 prints, and the 532000-056 black monochrome ribbon at 1,500 prints.
The choice is the usual one. YMCKT prints a full-colour front with a topcoat that protects the image, and at 500 prints per ribbon it is the everyday choice for photo ID. The black ribbon prints three times as many cards and suits anything without a photograph. Note the YMCKT part number has changed: 534700-004-R010 replaces the earlier 534000-003, so if your reorder sheet still lists the old SKU, this is the same ribbon.
